The establishment of Colegio De Dagupan in 1984 by Dr. Voltaire P. Arzadon marked the birth of an academic library which later became a very prominent resource center not only in the City of Dagupan but nationwide. This library was the first housed at the Vina Theater along A.B Fernandez St., Dagupan City. When Vina Theater was burned, it was transferred at the Galvan Building in the same vicinity. In 1989, the library was again transferred when the five-story Felisa arzadon Memorial Edifice, formely known as the Main Building, was built at Arellano St., Dagupan City.
In the latter part of 1998 the 2nd to 5th floors of the Administration Building of the college were converted into a library. A Baggage counter and Internet room were constructed at the second floor; the periodicals, Audio Visual, Internet and Discussion room at the third floor; while the Chief Librarian’s Office, Photocopy Center, Multimedia, Reading Areas and Stack Room at the 4th and 5th floors.
Nowadays, changes in teaching and learning methods move towards resource-based and flexible learning. The call for more student-centered approaches to learning, greater responsibility and inspection process have all cause the Library Personnel to redefine the role that Colegio De Dagupan Library plays. With these changes, the library now renders converged services. The library acquired more functions and added more resource services such as open learning careers, media resources and counseling.
To promote this new services and functions, the Colegio De Dagupan Library launches this handbook. It contains general information about the library, rules and regulations, library services, and step-by-step guidelines on the proper retrieval and use of library resources.
